AArrow Advertising employees drive consumers into client stores and restaurants by calling attention to them with their lively sign spinning. “As long as you are happy and make people laugh, you have a good time,” said Workforce Advantage Academy junior Dylan Pope. “When you approach it as something fun, it’s a great job.”
Senior Moses Clement, enjoys working out while earning money and gaining job skills. “It takes a lot of energy, because you have to keep spinning, but it’s great getting paid.”
Junior Dan Kruse works every weekend and on Tuesdays, and takes the gig seriously. “It’s a real job, one that you can get fired from,” said Kruse. “Yet it’s fun, because you get to rock out to music while you work,”
The global gorilla marketing company AArrow Advertising entered the Orlando market last summer and since then has hired nearly a dozen Workforce Advantage Academy students. “We are trying to give back to the community by employing youth and giving them an opportunity to grow with the organization,” said Daniel Ortiz, general manager of AArrow Advertising. “We offer students responsibility and show them how a little hard work can go a long way toward moving up in the organization.”
Students can grow with the company and join the sales force or become a training facilitator, manager or franchise owner. Employees learn more than 300 tricks and practice their sign-spinning skills weekly. “We consider it a sport,” Ortiz said. “It’s interactive, and we want them to have fun with it.”
